Slow down, sip a great cup of coffee, and connect more deeply with art at Coffee & Conversation at Dunedin Fine Art Center. Sponsored by DFAC’s Sterling Society—with coffee generously provided by Lane’s Lemonade—this relaxed midday gathering brings artists, ideas, and community together in an intimate, welcoming setting.

This session features guest artist Latonya Hicks, whose work explores memory, identity, and cultural lineage through richly layered mixed-media assemblage. Guided by Curatorial Director Danny Olda, the conversation begins with a Q&A that dives into Latonya’s creative journey, influences, and process, offering behind-the-scenes insight into her practice. The discussion is followed by a guided gallery tour, giving attendees the chance to experience her work up close, ask questions, and engage directly with the ideas and materials behind it.

Currently exhibiting When the Lights Came On: Shared Memories and the Things We Keep at DFAC, Hicks presents circular assemblages made from found and gifted objects—beads, lunchboxes, Pez dispensers, and other familiar relics of the 1980s and 90s. These everyday items become vessels for storytelling, reflecting childhood, home, and the women who shaped her life.
